ROAMING CONTROL
Dealing with the costs of mobile workers with Data and Voice plans is difficult enough when it happens in your own country. Once your workers start travelling into different countries with their mobile devices you start incurring roaming fees per MB or per minute. It is not unheard of for these fees to be higher than $30 per MB.
INTERNATIONAL ROAMING CASE
Bill was travelling from Canada to the US using his 3G USB Modem. While in his hotel he wanted to check the sports scores. He figured since his company gave him the USB Modem it must be cheaper than the Hotel WiFi (definitely more convenient). He logged into his favorite sports site to catch up on the scores. What Bill did not know is that many popular websites automatically refresh themselves every minute with 1MB of new data. He did not log off the site and went to bed. After 8 hours of sleep he woke up and went to his morning meeting not having any clue he just cost the company $14,400 of international roaming fees, that his company would only learn about in 45 days when they got their next bill.
WITH TELICOST BOTH BILL AND THE ADMINISTRATOR WOULD HAVE BEEN IMMEDIATELY WARNED OF THE ROAMING CHARGES AND THUS WOULD HAVE AVOIDED THE COSTS.
